LLHRC to hold Judges Seminar and Upland Test Weekend
That's right, you can get attend a Judges/Handlers Seminar and run your dog on the same weekend. On Saturday, February 16th, LLHRC is hosting a Judges/Handlers Seminar in Hugo. Then on Sunday, the club will hold our annual upland tests. Check the calendar for seminar details. The hunt test premium will be available shortly.

Officer Elections and Membership Renewals
This year is an election year. Our club officer's have each only served one term and are eligible to run for another term. All of them were at the meeting and confirmed they were willing to continue in their positions for another two years if that is what the club wanted. They will all be listed on the ballot you'll receive with your membership renewal after our November meeting. If anyone would like to nominate a club member for a position who is not already in office, please forward that nomination to me. We will hold nominations open until our November meeting and then print up the ballot. You will need to be a paid up member for 2013 in order to cast a ballot. This is done so that only members moving forward with the club into the next year have a say in the club's officers.

Membership renewals will be sent out with the ballots after next month's meeting. After much discussion last meeting we have decided we need to raise club membership dues to $40. Our dues have stayed the same for the last 4-5 years, but our expenses have increased. We have the due set to cover insurance (~$760) and club training grounds (Elk River $250, Kelley Farms $400, and On-Line ~$640). With our membership in the high fifties the last couple of years, we have fallen short of this goal. Please note that there is no equipment component to this calculation. We use proceeds from our hunt tests to maintain and replace our equipment.

Another Hunt Test in the Books
Well, our club put on a test that ran more dogs than I can remember in quite a while (maybe our most ever). It looks like the last second decision to add another Finished flight was worthwhile. I think we ran about 19 in each flight Saturday and 23 Sunday. Started was in the mid thirties (a little higher than usual) and Seasoned was mid to high teens (on the high end of usual). I know we had club members from at least Horicon and Muddy Waters in WI, Prairie Lakes and Marsh & Meadows in MN, and Dakota travel to our test (not counting the pros) which is always great to see. HRC seems to be holding it's own in our area, but don't hesitate to spread the word when the opportunity arises if you believe in the program even if it's outstate or out of state. It wasn't too long ago that Prairie and M&M didn't exist, but with a few dedicated founding members and some help from our club they are now solid clubs. Sidenote - the three additional Finished judges we added the week before our test all pulled their dogs the day they were judging to help us out and they are all from clubs that started after us that we had members go above and beyond the call to help them get their start. If that doesn't show what a great group of people we have in this Region of HRC, I don't know what does.

LLHRC Upland Test Premium Now Available
The premium is now available for the LLHRC 2012 Upland Hunt test, Feb. 18, 2012. The premium is available to download here. This is a Quad Upland with Marsh & Meadows HRC hosting Sunday's tests. Also, there is club training at Rocky Bay every saturday beginning December 31 until the test weekend. Check the Calendar for details.

Quad Upland Test with Marsh & Meadows
Land of Lakes HRC is teaming up with Marsh and Meadows HRC to offer a QUAD upland hunt on Feb 18-19, 2012 at Rocky Bay Hunt Club in Pine City! A premium will be available shortly. We are planning several club training days at Rocky Bay in December and January to help you get your dog ready. Check the Calendar for details.

LLHRC Fall Hunt a Success
Thanks to everyone that helped make our 2011 Regular fall hunt weekend a success! Our overall entries were lower than usual, but they were higher than the early entry numbers were indicating. This was in part due to the Fall Grand being the same weekend. At least four other HRC clubs had members in attendance. We had some club members achieve their first ever passes and others that earned titles. Thanks to all who helped out. It takes a lot of people putting in quite an effort to make it all come together. I want to let everyone who helped know we all greatly appreciate it because the only way the club can continue to put these tests on is if we have members like you that are willing to do the work they require. Thanks again and good luck this hunting season!

Sue Liehmon and Justin (UH HRCH MHR CH Gamecr Waterway Just Plain Ol' MH WDS) earned 1000 HRC points last weekend at NE Florida HRC. Way to go!

Upland Season!
Our Upland test was a success, 36 entries between the two tests and the weather was excellent. Thanks to all the members that came out and supported our club! Some members are still training and traveling to other tests - Horicon, Dakota, and Iowa. Contact the training coordinator for more info on training.
Also, for those that haven't renewed yet, membership renewals are due for 2011. See you in the field!

LLHRC is Growing
Training this weekend was well attended one of the smaller turnouts but enough members to make everthing work.
Thanks to Jeff Kolanski and Wade Samson on their effert to make sure we had the equipment needed.
We now have 57 members for 2009 that's fantasic. Seeing a lot new members at training and a lot of nice dogs remember training this weekend In Elk River. Also Monthly meeting at Gander Mountain on Tuesday.

Upland Test A Success - Memberships Renewals Due
Upland test was a success, 41 entry's and the weather was warm for once. Thanks to all the members that came out and supported our club!
20 entry's in Test #1 with 13 passes.
20 entry's in Test #2 with 15 passes.

Membership renewals are still coming in. We have 37 renewals so far. Our membership number was 58 members last year. If you haven't sent yours in you can print out the form and mail to Scott Krumm. <Download it here>

I talked to HRC field rep. Mike Botts and he cannot hold a Judges and Handlers Seminar up here this year since we held one last year and that two other clubs in our area are hosting them. If you are a Judge and need to attend a Judges Seminar this year I would recommend contacting Shane Olean at Dakota HRC.

LLHRC Fall Regular Hunt Test Update
Just a reminder the Fall Hunt test is September 6th & 7th. We have added a second flight of Finished dogs due to the demand. We still have openings in Started and Seasoned. Many of our members have already volunteered their help but we need more of our members to respond to fill in where there is a need. LLHRC Spring Training seminar a huge success!
We had about 50 people in attendance to get some valuable training information and strategies presented by our own Greg Larson of Sundowner Retrievers. Poor weather and a forcast calling for snow kept us indoors for most of the day, but we had ample space for several demonstrations and lots of learning. The event was advertised at local sporting goods stores and on several online bulletin boards and we saw a great turnout of new folks to HRC. Many of them have since joined the club and been showing up for club training days to put to use the knowledge they learned.
